Lionbridge Japan Country Manager Mark Attaway Named Director of Japan Translation Federation (JTF)

Attaway Presents at 16th JTF Translation Festival in Tokyo


WALTHAM, Mass., September 27 -- Lionbridge Technologies, Inc., (Nasdaq: LIOX), a leading provider of globalization and offshoring services, today announced that Mark Attaway, Country Manager of Lionbridge Japan, has been named a Director of the Japan Translation Federation (JTF), a public-interest corporation authorized by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and Japan’s leading translation industry trade association. He will also present at the 16th JTF Translation Festival Tokyo 2006, which is being held Thursday, October 12 at Mazda Hall Hatchobori in Tokyo, Japan. In Mr. Attaway’s  presentation titled, “The Evolving Global Localization Providers and Their Expectations for Translators,” he will discuss the changing expectations for Lionbridge’s vendors and freelancers, including the use of tools, the need for strict quality control processes, the outsourcing of Quality Assurance, and Language Quality Services.

Mr. Attaway became a member of the Board of Directors in June 2006. As a member, Mr. Attaway will contribute in establishing and executing the JTF’s goals for the year. JTF’s goals include driving the special subcommittees such as Translation Tools, Translation Proficiency Examination, Translation Industry Survey, Translation Festival, and JTF Journal, along with determining how funding will be distributed to achieve JTF’s goals.

JTF’s objectives are to research and investigate the state of the Japanese translation industry, hold workshops/training courses and support and nurture the development of translators, and to contribute to the development of Japan’s economy by promoting the translation industry at translation-related international conferences.
