Lionbridge Establishes Korean Software Certification Program

Telecommunication Technology Association Sponsored by Korea's Ministry of Information and Communication Selects VeriTest; Reinforces Company's Leadership Role in Global Software Certification Standards

WALTHAM, Mass. — Dec. 19, 2001 — Lionbridge Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:LIOX) today announced that its VeriTest business unit has been selected by Telecommunication Technology Association (TTA) to jointly establish a certification program that will enable Korean ISVs to develop products that meet the highest level of quality for distribution worldwide.

As part of the program, VeriTest will train TTA test engineers and planners and provide guidelines to ISVs on how to develop products that meet the rigorous standard defined by VeriTest in conjunction with the Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) in Korea. Vendors with products that meet the standard will be eligible to participate in marketing programs to promote their certified products and applications to North American and European markets. Once the certification program has been developed, VeriTest will provide ongoing consulting and training to help TTA provide full public administration of the program.

In addition to benefiting Korean ISVs, the VeriTest-TTA certification program also helps worldwide consumers identify Korean products that have been independently tested and proven to meet high standards for interoperability for worldwide markets.

"We chose to partner with VeriTest because of their proven global leadership in product quality assurance and standards-based testing programs," said Jung-yul Choi, Managing Director, Information and Telecommunications Test Laboratory, TTA. "The combination of Lionbridge's globalization expertise and VeriTest's industry leading testing services will enhance our support for the development of cutting-edge technologies."

"The Korean software market continues a steady rise. This means interoperability requirements are that much more critical," said Rory Cowan, CEO of Lionbridge. "The creation of a standardized quality assurance model and testing program will greatly benefit developers as Korean software products are exported and sold in the U.S. and Europe."
